These diseases include common inherited diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular/neurological disorders and diseases of lipid metabolism, e.g. heart disease/stroke, atherosclerosis and obesity. _x000D_
The module will also allow the student to study critically the role of oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes in the development of human cancer, including their identification, followed by a general discussion of human cancer as a disease from the pathological and molecular biological viewpoints including concepts of progression and metastasis. _x000D_
